Identification
with the limited, mortal body-mind
Because
of this separative act of self-contraction, we end up identifying
with a limited, mortal body-mind, and suffer all the limitations
of that restricted identity.
Because all these apparently separate, apparently distinct beings
(which are all only the One Divine Consciousness trapped into
identification with a limited body-mind, again and again) have
lost their fundamental, direct awareness of God and their own
Nature (through chronic, lifelong self-contraction), they instead
completely identify with the body-mind with which they are associated.
All
such body-minds are mortal, possessing a "consciousness" that
is identified with the body-mind through self-contraction. They
thus suffer greatly the sense of (apparent) separation from everything
and everyone else (particularly, and unconsciously, the sense
of separation from their Source).
